My name is Therese, and I own abiRiver Consulting! I started this business in 2021, in the midst of COVID and with uncertainty in the air about how Real Estate would be affected. As we watched interest rates climb, I'm so grateful I started this business when I did. It gave me time to acclimate myself to something new, while my real estate career was taking care of itself. Now, as we step into 2024, there are many real estate agents leaving the field because of how difficult it is to stay afloat. My phone rings with referrals and I don't pay for a single lead. In fact, I make more money with each call because I'm able to sell them on my services that go above and beyond listing their home with little to no costs from my own pocket.
Rather than giving up real estate for a full time income, I want to educate agents on the importance of adding Move Management and Downsizing to their list of listing services. As our baby boomer generation hits 65 years old at a rate of 10k per day, we have an underserved market of sellers. That is 10,000 people turning 65 each day until mid 2030's, there is enough work for you and me to stay busy for years.
That's about 38% of homeowners nation wide. So, over 1/3 of our homeowners are downsizers.
Additionally, our 911 emergency care system is concern that their biggest obstacle in the next 10 years is the amount of non-emergent 911 calls they will be getting from this aging demographic. Callers over 65 are 3-9x more likely to call 911. How does that impact you as a real estate agent?
These are often calls from homeowners, who have lost the ability to maintain their home, or stay in their home safely. "Enviromental modifications" might mean moving piles of newspapers, boxes, groceries, laundry & mail out of their way so they can safely navigate their homes. How do we help? We create a plan for them, to transfer them into a safer space, and utilize the equity in their home to pay for packing and moving services. Many of these clients want to move, but don't know how to start the process on their own and are carrying the burden of decision making on their shoulders.
Imagine the relief when they are told someone can come in to help them sort their belongings, find a new place to live, pack them, plan moving day, and unpack them. And to top it off, all those costs are rolled into the cost of selling their home!
These are community members who will share the relief and joy of what an easy experience this was to all their friends.
